O
The new KAHLA Professional collection
Design: Barbara Schmidt
The "O – The better Place" series is limited to only a few multifunctional pieces. Still, it has all the essential functions of tableware. The distinct fold on the upper side of the porcelain offers the chef new opportunities to creatively stage his culinary creations and divides all pieces into two zones: one a space for the food, the other a surface for holding the dish. This series was inspired by folded paper, by the technique of origami, which literally means: oru = fold, kami = paper.
These two surfaces create an interesting play of light and shadow. Whichever angle you look from, there is always a different image. The plates and bowls of "O – The better Place" can be placed in many different relations to each other.
The O dinner plates provide the chef with a space to be creative: he has a lot of freedom to arrange the food and also defines the orientation of the plate.
The oval platters of O are designed to make serving particularly easy and smooth. They are available in two sizes. Additionally there is a small oval bread plate, which can also serve as a tray for espresso and a water glass.
The underside of the "O – The better Place" plates and bowls and the inner surfaces of the cup handles offer a surprise for the senses: a delicate relief consisting of additional folds. When the porcelain is placed on the table, the texture is visible and only on the tall pieces. If you hold it in your hand, you experience the tactile stimulation coming from the textured underside. What creates a special tactile experience for the dinner guest also provides a better grip for the service personnel.
The generously sized deep plate of "O" is particularly suitable for pasta and salad. But it is also perfect for serving dishes with a lot of sauce or stir-fries in an inviting way.
The "O – The better Place" saucers, available in two sizes, do not have a cup well. Thanks to the patented Magic Grip coating on their bottom, the cups rest securely on the saucers without a well. The saucers can also be used as plates for bread, snacks and small bites.
